BTP Insider talks to Patricia Belesis about her new café, Sip on 29, located at 29 Brandl Street, Brisbane Technlogy Park, Eight Mile Plains.
How long have you been involved in the café/retail industry?
In my early twenties, I opened my first café in Greece – I have been working in this industry for 25 years.
What led you to open Sip on 29?
We have been managing Tech Bites at 18 Brandl Street, Brisbane Technology Park for over 12 years and decided to extend our offering within the precinct. We saw an opportunity to provide the BTP Business community with a healthy and fresh alternative for their breakfast and lunch needs.
What makes Sip on 29’s offerings unique?
Our produce is bought locally and made with care. We offer freshly pressed juices, acai bowls and we cater for a wide range of dietary requirements. We are a family run business, my children work at the café whilst studying at University, including my daughter Maria, who is our head barista, and my sons Theo and Paul.
What is your favourite part about being located in Brisbane Technology Park?
Apart from being in a great location, it is being part of a close knit and friendly business community that makes coming to work each day such a positive and rewarding experience.
If you were a customer in your own cafe, what would you order from the menu?
That is a tough question to answer, but it would have to be one of our freshly poured coffees by our friendly baristas or one of our signature Sip Angus beef burgers with a side of sweet potato crisps.
