On Wednesday the 24th of February, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service held the annual Red25 award evening to recognise businesses that donated blood during the 2015 Red25 blood drive. The night saw the Brisbane Technology Park (BTP) Blood Drive Award go to Outsource Institute of Technology whose 21 donations saved a whopping 63 lives.
Marketing Manager, Hayley Gorlitz-Wilson accepted the award on behalf of Outsource Institute of Technology.
“The team is motivated to donate blood for a range of reasons. For some it is a result of first-hand experience with family and/or friends requiring a blood transfusion, for others it is about creating a sense of community. The management team and social club for Outsource Institute actively encourage all employees to roll up their sleeves every time the blood drive van is in the park. We also challenge our networks to show their support for this important initiative,” Ms. Gorlitz-Wilson said.
The BTP blood drive is continuing in 2016, with the Mobile Blood Donor Centre already having made its first visit to the park for the year.
Outsource Institute of Technology have set the bar high for this year’s BTP Blood Drive, and say they don’t expect to be stepping down any time soon from their leader board title. “As defending champions in 2015, Outsource Institute are pumped to retain the award in 2016,” Ms. Gorlitz-Wilson said.
